Half Moon Wine Store

About the Business

Half Moon Wine Store is a thoughtfully curated bottle shop for discerning drinkers looking for something a little different. With two physical stores in Brisbane and a growing online presence, the business has spent the past two and a half years championing small producers and independent wineries.

Built on direct relationships with more than 80 suppliers (including winemakers, craft brewers and distillers), Half Moon Wine Store is driven by their commitment to supporting local and independent producers. As the business evolved, the team worked with Restaurant Equipment Online to source refrigeration that could support both their product mix and long-term vision.

Challenge

In the early days, the Half Moon team were aware that while they had big dreams, they needed to be practical. Unsure if their concept would succeed, they needed a cost-effective refrigeration solution that didn’t compromise on quality or presentation.

Maintaining stable temperatures is critical for preserving the integrity of any wine range, but their fridges also needed a sleek, upmarket aesthetic that was on-brand and appealed to their customers. Flexibility was also important, allowing the team to experiment with store layouts as the business grew.

Solution

Bromic refrigeration offered a solution that looked great and delivered consistent performance at a practical price point. The ability to customise the fridge lightboxes gave Half Moon Wine Store a way to inject their own unique personality into the space and differentiate themselves from their more traditional bottle shop competitors.

GM1000LBCAS – Upright Display Fridge

Five upright display fridges were installed to showcase a wide range of wines, beers and spirits. Double-glazed doors help minimise condensation, ensuring clear product visibility for customers, while the digital temperature controller allows precise control to protect wine quality.

Operating in Brisbane’s humid climate, the team has been particularly impressed with the units’ ability to maintain a consistent temperature of 2-3°C with minimal condensation. Lockable castor wheels also provide the flexibility to reconfigure layouts or support future relocations and expansion.

As Half Moon Wine Store grows, the refrigeration setup will allow them to adapt, experiment and evolve. Including their long-term plans to potentially create a space where customers can enjoy a glass of wine in-store.

When we saw the Bromic fridges, they hit every mark. The functionality is awesome, and they are super reasonably priced for the quality you get. So much so, when we opened our second shop, we purchased another five straight away.
