Multideck set up guide

How to Set Up Your Multideck for Better Performance and Longer Life

A multideck fridge is a big, long-term investment. How you set it up on day one and treat it over time can have a big impact on its overall performance, the temperature of your products and its long-term reliability.

Simple mistakes like blocking airflow, overloading shelves or skipping important condenser cleaning can result in poor cooling and avoidable downtime. Getting your setup right from the start is a big help in ensuring proper performance and protecting your investment.

Fully unpack and install all shelves before turning it on

Before powering up your multideck, make sure all shelves are fully unpacked and correctly installed. If you run the unit with shelves still wrapped, it can restrict airflow and cause ice build-up inside the cabinet, affecting cooling performance and creating unnecessary service issues. A few extra minutes during installation can prevent much bigger problems later.

Pre-cool the unit before loading products

Before stocking the cabinet, run the multideck for around three hours with the night blinds closed. This will give the cabinet time to reach the correct operating temperature before you load your products. Loading stock too early makes it harder for the unit to pull temperatures down efficiently, especially during busy trading periods.

Don’t overload the shelves

It can be tempting to take advantage of every bit of shelf space, but overloading a multideck can block airflow and reduce cooling performance. Load products with at least a 20mm gap between stock and the side and rear walls and keep air vents clear. Consistent airflow is essential for maintaining stable temperatures across the cabinet.

Clean the condenser regularly

During installation, dust and debris can easily become trapped in the condenser, reducing efficiency from the start. Clean the condenser on installation with a vacuum or brush, then keep cleaning it every four weeks as part of regular maintenance. Keeping the condenser clean helps the unit run efficiently and reduces unnecessary strain on the refrigeration system.

Protecting your investment

Small setup details can make a big difference to your multideck performance over time. Ensuring correct installation, good airflow, regular cleaning and proper product loading will all help protect product quality, reduce service issues and extend the life of your investment.
