Oven Stories, VIC

About the Business

Oven Stories is an artisan cake shop and bakery in a busy inner-city suburb of Melbourne. Opened in early 2021, the business is the realisation of a long-held dream for two professional dessert chefs launching their first venture together.

Oven Stories specialises in beautifully crafted desserts made fresh on site, with a focus on eggless, vegan and gluten-free options. Their mission is to create wholesome treats that people with dietary requirements can enjoy. By combining their technical skills with thoughtful presentation, they’re able to stand out in a crowded local food scene.

Challenge

Operating in a suburb that was already filled with patisseries and cafés, the owners knew first impressions mattered, and that customers would need to be enticed visually before even trying out the desserts. So, selecting the right display would be one of the most important decisions they would make.

With a wide range of cakes and pastries varying in size and shape, flexibility was key. The display needed adjustable shelving to accommodate different products, while also presenting each item in a way that made it look as good as it tasted. In a competitive environment, the display had to do more than store food, it had to win customers over.

Solution

To store and display chilled desserts as well as warm pastries, Oven Stories selected a combination of Bromic cold and hot food displays that were stylish and offered flexibility and visibility.

FD4T1200C-NR – Cold Food Display
A 1200mm wide cake display chosen to present the bakery’s wide range of chilled desserts. Adjustable shelving allows for layout customisation based on the shape and size of desserts, ensuring each item is shown at its best.

FD4T0900H – Hot Food Display
A 900mm-wide hot food display suited to Oven Stories’ freshly baked pastries. Like the cold display, it features three adjustable shelves, giving the owners total control over presentation.

Internal lighting in both units subtly illuminates the desserts, enhancing colour and texture without overpowering the display. This thoughtful feature helps to create an appetising look that draws customers in and complements the bakery’s offerings.

Together, the displays give Oven Stories the freedom to present their desserts exactly as intended, supporting both their visual identity and their goal of creating memorable, feel-good experiences for every customer.

The display looks upmarket and gives the flexibility to adjust the shelves the way we want. The units have given life to the products.
